DansLab
DansLab is an
artist-in-residence program
designed to provide
choreographers, dancers, and
their collaborators the
opportunity to engage in the
creation of new choreography
or the setting of a
pre-existing dance work; to
offer
Long Island’s dance artists,
many of whom are graduates
from university/college
dance programs, the
opportunity to work with and
perform works by, national
and international acclaimed
artists;
and to provide the public
access to the artistic
process during the residency
through open rehearsals,
informal showings, and
moderated dialogues with the
artist-in-residence.
Since 1982 CoDanceCo has
commissioned collaborative
works by 29 choreographers,
14 composers, and more than
50 dancers. Choreographers
commissioned over the years
include Ann Carlson, David
Dorfman, Eiko & Koma, Ralph
Lemon, Susan Marshall, Bebe
Miller, Mark Morris, Charles
Moulton, Ohad Naharin, Doug
Varone, Bill T. Jones/Arnie
Zane, among others.
